I have decided to reject the job offered by the European company for several reasons
i) I realise that I really want to do an MBA. Changing jobs 6 months (or so) before I start applications is not a very good way to get a good recommendation.
ii) The company is not mature in this country - it is still very much a startup. Getting involved at this stage would mean less job security for the same returns that I am currently getting. There is no added benefit in terms of compensation.
iii) No clear competitive advantage. The company does basic advisory consulting, with minimal value added (although they have offices in key areas around the world). But the company does not have a unique proposition; Yes, it may be the first mover in this part of the world - but if the company does not develop a clear unique proposition then it would be very tricky later on.
Back to the GMAT - which incidently I realise my approach is massively flawed, but hopefully have corrected it.
I have also take the time to sit down and draw up my roadmap for the next 1 year.
Plan A - Get accepted, do an MBA.
Plan B - In the event that Plan A fails, I have started looking at PR/migration requirements to Australia. Though I have also wanted to get a PR in Australia, I never really sat down and planned for it; until now.
Plan C - Work in the Advertising Industry. If everything fails, if I have to stay where I am, I want to change industries and go do advertising and marketing. A far cry from what I am doing now, but it is what I am academically qualified for. In addition, I always wanted to try doing marketing strategy.
