Second Opinion

Second opinion says it is just a matter of time before I have to go for surgery.

So looks like I am going to go for it, though I am not going to go in on the 27th February, I will reschedule it due to other commitments.

So much for having hopes that I would not need the surgery.

*sigh*

Thanks

I actually just figured it would be nice to thank everybody who has wished me the best either for my gallstones or for the GMAT. Though I have never met, and probably will never meet 98% of you, I really appreciate your positive comments! :)

-----

At the moment, I am going to get a second opinion on whether or not I should undergo surgery. While of course, surgery will offer permanant relief, it is a permanant solution and should be the last action taken, not the first viable solution. So, even without the second opinion, I am have doubts about having to undergo surgery.

If, I can survive without having to undergo surgery, I will definitely prefer to consider that option, instead of having to opt for surgery. Regardless of how common, or safe the procedure is, nevertheless, there are inherent risks involved.

Well, lets see how things go.

My Poor Gallbladder

Well, in light of frequent pain attacks and possible complications that may arise from having gallstones, I am scheduled to undergo a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (removal of the gallbladder) and ERCP (clearing of the bile duct from any gallstones).

All this is due to happen on the 27th February. Well, looks like it was unavoidable, though I wish I never had any gallstones to begin with.

On the bright side, I will have 5-6 days bed rest during which I plan to do my GMAT preparations! Failing which if I do not do so, I will probably die of boredom....

Bit by bit starting with my appendix, my innards are slowly being removed.... soon I will be nothing but an empty shell. Hah!

In regards to my big grand economic changing idea, I will be talking to the Head of Risk Management to get some feedback about it, lets see where it goes from there.

So what should I do?

Ok, lets say I have an idea. Say, the idea is a fantastic (or maybe just a good) idea, discussed it with some people, they all think its a good idea. It is

- A repeat business
- Niched
- Empowering (consumer)
- Has not been done yet as far as I know (locally/globally)
- Information/service based
- It will happen, if I do not do it, somebody else will come around sooner or later to do it

So, where would I go from here? Who would be the best people to consult with to distill the idea? Should I make everybody I talk to sign a non-disclosure agreement (I am paranoid :P ) ?

Hmm.

iPod

Whee! I have got an iPod Nano, courtesy of my girlfriend as a late birthday present.

I have to admit that to a certain extent it is as good as it seems, though I had some trouble setting up the software and getting it to sync - I think my computer's USB port is somewhat unstable. The accessories for iPods are a world of their own, I find it hard to believe that market competition has not kicked in and brought down the prices of accessories. Well, perhaps here there is a limited demand and supply for such items.

On another note. I have just placed an order for the GMAT Official Guide 11th Edition through a local bookstore. Ordering it online and getting it shipped here is just too expensive. 45 Big Macs to buy it online vs 30 Big Macs buying locally. Downside it that I will have to wait a while before I get it. Patience is a virtue, anyway, I have yet to finish up Kaplan.

Went out with some friends and had a few drinks and ended up having supper at 3.30am in the morning. As time has passed by, I feel myself being unable to keep up with the late nights and heavy drinking. Getting old is no fun.

It looks like, the older you get, the less fun you can have....

If you could relive your life, which age would you relive? If me, I would probably relive 18 years old. Just out of high school and doing my A-Levels. I would have had actually studied hard and possibly done well. Instead of getting involved with a 101 ways to waste time....

On another note, my preparations for the GMAT seem to have improved my score. I am up approximately 100 points, touching 600 points on a diagnostic test. Downside is, my verbal is up but my quantitative is down! :(

But let me fix my verbal completely first.
